Garlic Geek Speaks: Why I Love Polish Garlic

Hello Garlic Lovers!

On the farm we grow approximately 23 varieties of garlic. People often ask me which is my favourite one.  I have different favourites for different reasons.  The Cuban and Rose de Lautrec are so special because of their beauty.  The Ukranian and the Persian delight because of their extra spicy flavour.  But inevitably, I will talk about the brilliance of Polish garlic.  First of all, it’s BIG! And for garlic growers and eaters alike, that’s a major plus. Polish garlic typically has 4 large cloves. When you plant from a large clove, you are likely to end up with large bulbs.  So, it’s a very rewarding variety to grow.  And for cooks…big cloves = less peeling!  And the flavour is outstanding.

Whether you purchase ours or not, I am on a mission to encourage people to eat and grow local, organic garlic. Thus, I will offer a free bulb of Polish garlic (to anyone who will come to the farm to get it) to sample or plant (or both!). Be in touch if you want to make a time to come out to the farm and pick up your free bulb of Polish garlic.

Keep Livin’ on the Veg!

Daniel
